Hotel Booking –
UX Case Study

I took on the challenging yet rewarding task of designing a hotel booking website, aiming to combine intuitive user experience with modern visual design. The project involved in-depth market research, competitive benchmarking, and a user-centered design approach.
The result is a high-fidelity prototype that delivers a seamless and engaging experience while aligning with current industry standards and user expectations.

The prototype is well-structured with a straightforward flow and clear CTAs, well done!

Research and Discovery

The project began with extensive research to understand both the competition and user needs. I conducted competitive benchmarking to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of existing platforms and performed an online survey to gather feedback directly from potential users. These insights informed my design decisions, helping me identify pain points, user preferences, and opportunities for improvement in the hotel booking experience.

Usability Testing

I undertook one formal usability test and participated in two additional sessions as an observer, carefully taking notes and analyzing user interactions. These tests were invaluable in shaping the design and functionality of the final product. By identifying areas where users faced challenges or confusion, I was able to iterate on my designs to make the user experience smoother and more intuitive.

Throughout the project, I employed several key design methods and tools, including:

Affinity Diagram

We used affinity diagramming to organize research insights, revealing user patterns that guided the design process.

Customer Journey Map

I created a customer journey map to visualize the booking experience, helping me identify roadblocks and ensure a smooth user journey.

Flow Diagram

The flow diagram outlined each user interaction, helping me design a smooth, intuitive booking process with minimal friction.
